Tax breaks could help Michigan's music industry
by Michigan Music Hub on 03/16/10Detroit (AP) - A little known state tax break for music producers could help put Motown back on the map, but the Detroit Free Press says so far no one has taken advantage of it. The state is offering tax credits of up to 42% for the production of music CDs and music videos. The break was designed to bring big name artists to record in Michigan. The tax credit has been available since April 2008, but no one has taken advantage of it apparently because it is so little known.
