Rothbury Replacement?

by Michigan Music Hub on 05/09/10

From: The Grand Rapids Press Staff
A Grand Rapids concert and festival promoter Tuesday will announce the creation of a Michigan-based outdoor music festival.
Arrowhead Productions of Grand Rapids will provide details next week regarding the L3 Lucky Lake Live Homegrown Michigan Festival. The event will be Aug. 20-22 at the Lucky Lake Campground at U.S. 31 and the Winston Road exit in southern Oceana County, promoter John Kunz said. The three-day festival will be produced adjacent to the Double JJ, as a replacement for Rothbury, an environmentally themed festival that was canceled this year. Kunz said L3 will have two stages, a DJ tent, 75 entertainers, Michigan-based food vendors and camping on the 200-acre property.

Details of the music from national, regional and local acts will be announced Tuesday, the promoter said.

Tax breaks could help Michigan's music industry

by Michigan Music Hub on 03/16/10

Detroit (AP) - A little known state tax break for music producers could help put Motown back on the map, but the Detroit Free Press says so far no one has taken advantage of it. The state is offering tax credits of up to 42% for the production of music CDs and music videos. The break was designed to bring big name artists to record in Michigan. The tax credit has been available since April 2008, but no one has taken advantage of it apparently because it is so little known.
