A West Michigan based bluegrass band. Their original songs have the fingerprint of the northern style of bluegrass that the band has become famous for. This style is woven through the band's original arrangements, the old standards, as well as the contemporary bluegrass songs we play.
Formed in December 2006. In a short time they have accomplished more than they ever dreamed. Each member brings to the band years of experience in both traditional and newer forms of bluegrass music, with a focused attention on producing original material.
Carrying on the tradition of American roots music. All members write and sing, providing a wealth of material and influences. Who Hit John? always bring audiences something exciting and new.
A traditionally structured four-piece bluegrass group with the majority of their songs featuring the banjo, mandolin, guitar and acoustic bass with three and four part harmonies. They have been called a high energy band that appeals to not only hard core bluegrass fans, but to the average fan of music.
Like a breath of fresh air, this five piece band plays traditional bluegrass instruments and uses them to create original songs and soundscapes that are unique and new, yet somehow feel comfortable and familiar.
Combining original contemporary bluegrass sounds, great traditional favorites,  with tight focused harmonies, precision instrumentals, and creative melodies, taking you down a unique bluegrass road.
With songs both traditional and original, the band’s core of guitar, dobro, fiddle, bass and harmony vocals can lean into bluegrass, veer toward country, or take listeners on a unique journey through Bill’s original songs.

Who Hit John?: Heirloom
The band has an extraordinary song base, with songs ranging from traditional country and bluegrass to modern pop hits, big band era tunes and everything in between (and we do mean everything!). With hundreds of songs in their repertoire, they never run out of songs to choose from.
Three musicians who understand completely where traditional music comes from, and what their role is in carrying it forward. According to the Ann Abor News "Fans of traditional American music who appreciate aces fiddling, boffo banjo work, and harmonies as sweet as sugar can't go wrong with the Raisin Pickers latest CD."
This amazing trio featuring Carmen Gibes, James Richardson, and Shaun Richardson, consistently amazes audiences throughout Michigan and beyond with their unique style of bluegrass. Since their debut they have appeared at hundreds of venues alongside IBMA award-winning bluegrass bands such as Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, Cherryholmes, and Dailey and Vincent.
